E/R: Court remands 37 accused persons over attack on Kwahu Bepong Chief’s Palace

The Nkawkaw District Court has remanded 37 accused persons into Police custody over the attack on Kwahu Begong Chief’s Palace on 4th February 2024.

The accused persons were arraigned before the Court on five (5) Counts, including causing unlawful damage to properties following their arrest in connection with the attack.

All the accused persons are to reappear before the court on 23rd February 2024.

Background

Reports revealed that the police were attempting to rescue an alleged suspect accused of murdering two people in Adwumasu, a farming community in the Kwahu South Municipality.

Community members, upon learning of the arrest, stormed the chief’s palace, demanding the immediate release of the suspect for instant justice.
