East Legon Accident: Bishop Salifu Amoako and Wife Arrested

The couple who have come under public backlash are currently in police custody assisting in investigation, the police said.

The founder of Alive Chapel International, Bishop Salifu Amoako and his wife, Mouha Amoako have been rounded up by the police following the fatal East Legon crash over the weekend allegedly caused by their teenage son.

The accident claimed the lives of two identified as Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, both 12 years old.

A statement by the Ghana Police Service on October 15 indicated that, an investigation was initiated and the parents of Elrad Salifu Amoako, the suspect driver, were arrested.

“The Ghana Police Service has today, October 15, 2024, arrested suspects Bishop Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, parents of the suspect driver involved in the fatal accident that claimed two lives at East Legon on Saturday, October 12, 2024.”

The couple who have come under public backlash are currently in police custody assisting in investigation, the police said.

The police, in their statement, also established that Elrad is 16 years old, and therefore not qualified to drive a vehicle.

Established Facts So Far
The son of the clergyman was driving a Jaguar SUV vehicle with registration number GN 7801-20 alongside one passenger.

The teenager rammed into a 4X4 Acura vehicle with registration number GR 2542-23 which had five occupants including the driver.

Both vehicles got torched by an electric pole at the scene.

Passerby successfully rescued three occupants of the Acura as well as the two occupants of the SUV.

The remaining two unfortunately perished in the fire.

The injured were then conveyed to a health facilities.

While all the victims except one have been discharged, the occupants of the SUV, who were allegedly responsible for the incident, remain at a health facility.
