A high-ranking official of Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Peter Appiahene, has categorically denied allegations of assisting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in securing the top spot on the ballot paper for the upcoming general elections.

The allegations, made by Onua TV’s Captain Smart, claimed Dr. Appiahene was present at the EC’s head office during the balloting process and manipulated the outcome using a special yellow-colored ball.

Setting the Record Straight

Dr. Appiahene stated, “I wish to categorically state that this allegation is completely false and without any evidence… I challenge Captain Smart to provide any evidence to support his baseless claim, as none existent.”

He emphasized his commitment to delivering credible elections, upholding his integrity, principles, and values.

Previous EC Controversies

This incident is not the first time the EC has faced allegations of bias.

In 2020, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) accused the EC of favoring the NPP.

However, the EC has consistently maintained its neutrality.
