The Commission, in an official release, confirmed that the by-elections will address multiple vacant positions in district assemblies, including those in Awutu Senya West, Agona West, Agona East, Ablekuma Central, La Dade-Kotopon, Weija-Gbawe, Krowor, and many others.

While the majority of the vacancies have been caused by the passing of elected assembly members, some electoral areas such as Loagri Kukua, Wenchiki, Adibo, Bunburiga, and Tigenga have pending elections due to previous security concerns or electoral violence that disrupted earlier voting processes. The EC has now confirmed that these areas are safe for elections to proceed.

Notably, in West Mamprusi’s Loagri Kukua, a re-run was ordered due to over-voting in one polling station but could not proceed earlier due to security issues. Similarly, areas like Nanton’s Kpunduli had elections halted because of violence, but arrangements are now in place for smooth conduct.

The EC emphasized its commitment to ensuring that all affected districts and electoral areas are represented and called on all stakeholders to cooperate in maintaining peace and security during the electoral process.
