The Electoral Commission (EC), has disclosed that it will release the electoral calendar for this year’s general elections before the end of February 2024.

This comes after Deputy Electoral Commission (EC) Chairman in Charge of Corporate Services, Dr. Bossman Asare, hinted earlier this week that this year’s elections will not be moved from December 7 to November.

In January this year, the Seventh-Day Adventist Church proposed an amendment to the December 7, 2024, date for the general elections, sparking a public debate.

But that has been resolved after the EC said considerations are being made for a change in date for the 2028 elections instead.

Meanwhile, the leading opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been urging the EC to release the calendar of activities for this year’s general elections.

However, responding to a question regarding when the EC plans to release the calendar during a Public Accounts Committee sitting on Wednesday, February 21, Dr. Bossman Asare announced that the calendar will be out soon.

“We will certainly do it before the end of this month, before the end of February, the calendar should be out,” he stated.
