ECOWAS announces Dr. Mamadu Jao as New Commissioner for Education, Science and Culture
The ECOWAS Commission today announces the appointment of H.E.Dr. Mamadu Jao as the new Commissioner for Education, Science and Culture to replace the late H.E. Mr. Leopoldo Amado. The announcement happened at the handover ceremony which took place at the Riverplaza (ECOWAS annex office) in the presence of senior officials of the department where H.E. Mamadou Traore who has been acting commissioner passed the baton to the new boss.
At the ceremony, The Acting Commissioner, H.E. Mamadou Traore thanked everyone at the directorate for their presence and introduced the new commissioner. He expressed happiness for the opportunity to work with committed staff of the directorate during his acting capacity. He then gave a brief overview and the actual situation of the department regarding the staff, the divisions and the work it had carried out as acting Commissioner for six months. Mr. Traore ended his speech by wishing the new commissioner success in this journey and makes himself available to collaborate.
After handing over process, the new Commissioner for Education, Science and Culture, H.E. Mamadu Jao, also thanked the outgoing acting Commissioner for his dedication and commitment. He also stated that the unity and team spirit of the staff of the department shown during the tenure of the acting commissioner should be extended to him to succeed. He then promised to do his utmost in ensuring that the department fulfill its mandate.
At the end of the ceremony, an award was presented to the outgoing acting commissioner in recognition of his dedication and hard work.
