Education: PPP plans to abolish BECE in 2021

Flagbearer of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) Brigitte Dzogbenuku, has said that if voted into power, the party will abolish the Basic Education Certificate Education (BECE) Examination to ensure that every child enjoys free compulsory education from basic to senior high school.

She said that the BECE examination prevents children from continuing their education up to the senior high school level.

Speaking in an interview on Citi FM on Wednesday, the PPP flagbearer said that “each year we’ve lost about 100,000 kids because they fail. And when they said they cannot continue to SHS and they end up in all manner of things.”

She added that drivers should have at least a senior high school certificate to help them read and understand road signs. This is because their inability to read road signs has contributed to the increasing road accidents in the country.

Brigitte Dzogbenuku said her party is going to enforce free compulsory basic education to ensure discipline in the education system.

She also mentioned that other philosophies of the PPP is to bring unity to the country, allow people to elect their local government, resource the agriculture sector among others.

She urged Ghanaians to vote for the party for an inclusive and progressive country.
