Ejisu By-Election: Electoral Commission Withdraws 2 Staff Caught on Camera Receiving ‘Bribe’ From NPP MP
The EC reiterated its stance against any conduct that might compromise the institution’s integrity and vowed to take strict action against any officials found guilty of violating its laws.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has withdrawn two of its staff who were caught on camera receiving a suspected bribe from an NPP MP during the ongoing Ejisu by-election.
The viral video, widely circulated on social media, shows the Kwadaso MP, Prof Kingsley Nyarko placing a white envelope on the table in front of the EC officials. The incident has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.
In response to the video, the EC issued a statement affirming its commitment to its core principles of integrity, truth, and transparency. It stated that the two staff members have been withdrawn while an investigation into the matter is being conducted.
“The Electoral Commission has taken immediate steps and has withdrawn the two (2) temporary staff while investigations take place,” the statement read. “The commission upholds the principles and values of integrity, truth, and transparency. These values are reinforced during the training of all temporary staff.”
