ELECTION 2020: DCE Donates his 4 Month Salary to NPP Campaign

With barely four months to the election 2020, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kwahu Afram Plains South in the Eastern Region, George Ofori, has promised to support the campaign activities of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Afram Plains South Constituency with his four months salary beginning September.

Ofori made this publicly known at the official inauguration of the NPP campaign team in the Constituency last Wednesday at Tease the District capital. The team which is co-chaired by the Constituency Chairman and the Parliamentary Candidate has been tasked to coordinate activities of the New Patriotic Party in the Afram Plains South Constituency with the sole objective of winning the parliamentary seat. The team is also to contribute immensely towards the victory of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Election 2020

According to the DCE who is a member of the campaign team and a former chairman of the Party in the constituency, his gesture is to help resource the Parliamentary Candidate as the party poised to win political power from the NDC at the Constituency level. It is also to support the victory of the President with a significant vote margin in the Constituency.

“Election 2020 is here again and yes, we need to work harder in order to win the parliamentary seat for the first time for the NPP, we tried in 2016 and we all saw the outcome. Let’s come together as one family with a common goal of winning this seat which is the target of the party. In doing this we need to resource our parliamentary candidate to be able to lead our campaign vigorously towards achieving our objectives. I hereby promise to support this year’s campaign with my salary starting from September till the end of the elections. In addition, I am going to provide Ghc5000.00 fuel to the party on a monthly basis,” he stated.

Adding that “again we will not relent in supporting any proposal from the party and its parliamentary Candidate, your proposals will be treated with all the urgency it needs”.

The DCE who was confident in the performance of the Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party government charged the campaign team not to desist from campaigning on the great policies initiated by the government including the free senior high school policy, planting for food and jobs, planting for export, and rural development, rearing for food and jobs, one district one factory which the district can so far boast of two, one million per Constituency which the district through the middle belt authority has constructed numerous health facilities, classroom blocks, toilet facilities, boreholes among other infrastructure projects across the District, NABCO, among other great policies introduced.

He said this is bringing the country back on track and “I hope the good people of Afram Plains South has noted all this and are ready to give 4 more to Nana Addo to do more for Ghana and will also give us the mandate to represent them in Parliament”.

The Constituency Chairman, Emmanuel Kwasi Poku, revealed the party’s campaign strategy to include door-to-door, market visitations, among others. He charged them to be circumspect in their choice of language during the campaign period to avoid violence in the Constituency.

William Hor, the parliamentary candidate who is confident of winning the parliamentary seat after loosing with a little over thousand votes in the 2016 general elections called for a United front to spearhead the activities of the campaign.

He also expressed his gratitude to the DCE for his kind gesture to the party and his humble self, observing that the support will bring a significant impact on the campaign activities to win the parliamentary seat for the NPP.

The inauguration was supervised by the Eastern Regional secretary Jeff Konadu Addo, with the support of the Regional Research Officer and the Regional Women Organizer.
