In Ghana, the two major political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have ruled since the inception of the country’s Fourth Republican democracy.

There were many who have been calling for a change from this however, parties that have come are all not strong enough to provide a possible third force position.

Dr Papa Kwesi Ndoum’s Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Dr Hassan Ayariga also came along with his All People’s Congress (APC) after breaking away from the People’s National Convention (PNC) .

One fine gentleman who also emerged with some very brilliant ideas is Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker.

Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker is a Ghanaian businessman and politician who is noted for championing the redevelopment, expansion and beautification of the Accra-Tema motorway, the longest motorway in Ghana.

Election 2024: Another political party emerging in Ghana?

Even though Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker did not win an election he contested in Ghana in the past, he is optimistic that the 2024 General Elections will bring some positive results; this is according to Augustine Mark.

Augustine Mark represented Alfred Asiedu Walker when his team visited Ho in the Volta Region to interact with the media.

He says Mr Alfred Asiedu Walker thinks about his people and has passion for the rural poor.

According to him, his leader will not promise one thing and end up doing another.

He said that, 2024 elections will see Mr Asiedu Walker breaking the monopoly that the two biggest political parties have enjoyed since 1992.

He hopes that, there would come a third force party that would overturn results of the 2024 elections to its favour.

He says his leader will eventually be part of the 2024 Election with the aim of winning political power so that the economy of Ghana is transformed to the advantage of the citizenry.

“We shall introduce projects that will focus on the people” he said and then told the media again that, the crop of leaders that have ruled Ghana and continue to rule Ghana, one way or the other, have all lost integrity which is why there is a need for a total overhaul of the system.

He said that Ghanaians must be ready to embrace the ideas of his leader so that together, everyone will benefit.

He spoke on proper road infrastructure and specifically stated that his leader will invest in that sector and as well, will focus on Agric. Sector.

Emmanuel Kyei Barfour, a member of the team who was also present said that the focus of their leader will be on how to lift up the poor Ghanaian. He charged the youth to get together in preparation towards the 2024 elections.

Born in Larteh in the Eastern region of Ghana on December 24, 1955, Kwame Alfred Asiedu Walker is the youngest son of nine children. His parental and ancestry lineage spans across the lengths and breaths of Ghana.

Kwame’s father, Nana Kwame Okanta Obrantiri was King of Larteh Akuapim. The paramount ruler of the Guan tribe and traditional areas is the royal seat of the Guan tribe of Ghana and to date comprises a huge component of Ghana’s population.

His mother, Beatrice Amma Adobea Quashie was the daughter of the late Nana Kwasi Vaadze Nyarko Quashie, “King of Boso”, the paramount ruler of the Anum Boso tribe and traditional areas.

In 2016, following demands from a growing section of the Ghanaian electorate for a break in the apparent 2-party system, Kwame set out to contest in Ghana’s Presidential race as an independent candidate but was unfortunately not shortlisted by the Electoral Commission.

However, in 2020, Kwame contested the Presidential Elections in Ghana and came fourth.

He advocated for the Ghanaian majority ownership of the National Telecom system during the Kufuor regime.

With the above details, there is a huge possibility that a new political party may emerge and will be seen to be contesting elections in 2024.
