ELECTION 2024: Debating Bawumiah would be a ‘Complete Waste of Time’ – NDC activist

We all saw the countless townhall meetings in 2016 where Dr Bawumiah chastised the then NDC government over the rate of cedi depreciation, lending rates of banks, prices of goods among other things.

Ahead of the December general elections, an outspoken member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ho Central Constituency has replied the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Alhaji Mahmoud Bawumiah over his recent comment that he is ready to at any time to engage NDC’s John Dramani Mahama in a presidential debate.

In an interview with KYZZ FM in Takoradi on Wednesday, Oscar
Bedzra justified his comments by stating that Dr. Bawumiah despite his town hall meetings in 2016 could not improve economic and financial conditions in the country during his tenure as vice president.

“….. We all saw the countless townhall meetings in 2016 where Dr Bawumiah chastised the then NDC government over the rate of cedi depreciation, lending rates of banks, prices of goods among other things. The only improvement is additional taxes with less production. Today as we speak, these economic indicators under the same Dr. Bawumiah in eight (8) years has become a monster in the face of Ghanaians. This is the same person calling himself a driver’s mate who says he should be given the steer,” he stated.

“Who would have thought that economic conditions under Vice President Dr Mahamud Bawumiah would have been  worse today..?. That is the more reason I am submitting that our flag bearer will not engage in any fruitless debate because it is a complete waste of time,” he added

Oscar Bedzra urged Ghanaians to ignore calls by Dr Bawumiah for a presidential debate, stating that his [Bawumiah’s] town hall meetings have not improved the economic fortunes of the country.
