Election 2024: Mahama declares 48-hour vigil to protect ballots
“We will protect every single vote,” he promised. “We have had our issues with the Electoral Commission, but we’re prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt.”
The 2024 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama has called on party members to remain vigilant until the Electoral Commission (EC) has counted all ballots in the upcoming general elections.
Speaking at the NDC’s campaign launch in Tamale, Mahama emphasized the importance of monitoring the entire electoral process to prevent potential rigging in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He urged supporters to commit to protecting the ballot boxes on Election Day.
“We’re not going to sleep for 48 hours until all the ballots have been counted,” Mahama declared. “Everybody needs to prepare. None of us is going to sleep for 48 hours until all the ballots have been counted.”
Mahama assured Ghanaians that the NDC has implemented sufficient measures to ensure that the will of the people is not subverted.
He encouraged voters to trust the party to secure their votes and vote massively for him.
“We will protect every single vote,” he promised. “We have had our issues with the Electoral Commission, but we’re prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt.”
