Election 2024: NDC Mining Committee Exposes Henry Nana Boakye’s Desperate Lies in Obuasi

“The NDC is ready to win the 2024 elections and will not compromise the peace and security of this nation. We urge Ghanaians to reject these lies and vote massively for John Dramani Mahama and all NDC parliamentary candidates,”

The Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mining Committee, Samuel Hadjor, has strongly dismissed accusations by the National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), who alleged that the NDC is training thugs in the Obuasi East Constituency to disrupt the December 7, 2024, elections.

Nana Boakye claimed that the NDC, under the guise of private security training, was recruiting individuals in Obuasi East and other areas for illegal activities during the elections.

Responding to these claims, Mr. Hadjor labeled the allegations as baseless and desperate. He clarified that the NDC Mining Committee had organized a public mining conference on November 12, 2024, at the Mawuli Hotel in Obuasi to discuss the party’s mining policy with stakeholders.

“This was not a clandestine meeting,” Mr. Hadjor stated. “The conference was widely advertised and covered by prominent media houses, including GHOne TV, Joy News, TV3, and local Obuasi outlets. It coincided with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign in Obuasi, and several dignitaries such as former Ashanti Regional Minister Alexander Ackon and former Obuasi MCE Richard Kwasi Ofori Buadi (Zuba) were present. These allegations are unfounded and should be treated with the contempt they deserve.”

Fear and Frustration from the NPP

Mr. Hadjor accused the NPP of concocting these claims out of fear and frustration, as the NDC’s mining policy has resonated strongly with small-scale miners and other stakeholders.

“The NPP is panicking because our policies have given miners renewed hope. Their baseless accusations only expose their desperation to maintain relevance in mining communities where their credibility has plummeted,” he said.

Commitment to Peace and Stability

Reiterating the NDC’s commitment to a peaceful electoral process, Mr. Hadjor emphasized that the party is focused on addressing the needs of Ghanaians, particularly miners, whose livelihoods have been adversely affected under the NPP government.

“The NDC is ready to win the 2024 elections and will not compromise the peace and security of this nation. We urge Ghanaians to reject these lies and vote massively for John Dramani Mahama and all NDC parliamentary candidates,” he stated.

Call to Miners

Mr. Hadjor also called on miners to rally behind the NDC, promising significant reforms to the small-scale mining sector to benefit miners and their communities.

“The NPP has failed miners, and it is time for change. On December 7, let us vote out incompetence and bring in an NDC government that truly values the interests of miners and their families,” he concluded.

As the December elections approach, tensions continue to rise, with both major political parties vying for the trust of Ghanaian voters. The NDC, however, remains confident in its policies and electoral prospects.
