Zumzum: Elizabeth Ohene has finally found her Pen, or finally been adopted by the Akyem Yahoo Boys?
I captioned this piece deliberately for the intended recipient and I believe it finds her in the right state of mind. Ordinarily, I wouldn’t have penned down this to her. But, if people we expected so much from to know better begins to trade their talents and profession as journalists. They ought to be called out.
She brought herself today defending the fishy Agyapa deal in a piece she authored and titled “All-knowing neutrals” a deal that has been widely condemned by CSOs, Chiefs, concerned citizens, and so on, and so forth.
Agyapa, a private company whose prospectus is yet to be made public – it’s owners are shrouded in secrecy – to be operationalized in Jersey, a tax haven. Tax haven offers financial secrecy. A deal that sought to mortgage our mineral royalties for 15 years? I ask, borrowing $500 million thru this shady deal for what?
It’s appropriate to remind her of a few things.
Elizabeth Ohene made us aware she hails from the Volta region.
Not afar away, we were in this country where the nationality of a section of our population was questioned – indeed, she lost her pen and observed loud silence when we all witnessed state-sponsored brutality and maiming of Ewes, Muslims, Gas, the northerners, etc.
Whereas, the PNDC 1992 constitution under the directive principles of state policy made it abundantly clear that at no point in time should any region be sidelined, at no point in time should ethnicity be promoted – as we’re witnessing with the Akyem mafias, at no point in time should political intolerance be encouraged, at no point in time should CORRUPTION be championed, at no point in time should our resources be used for selfish insensitive gains.
Today, most of us have become regrettably confused as Elizabeth Ohene has finally found her pen – defending acts described by former Attorney General, Gloria Akufo as unconscionable – meaning morally unacceptable – which really challenged our very existence – mortgaging our resources for the gain of select few – the Akyem yahoo boys!
I am still short of words.

Became, silence again when her people the voltarians were maimed and beaten in their own country, Ghana – which beats my imagination because does NPP records zero in the Volta region during the election? I believe you’re not offended as I am applying your own standard set in your piece, I quote – “strange how they dish it out, but can’t take it”
One would’ve thought you’ll by now be babysitting your grandchildren, but, as you’ve now accepted the challenge of defending the sins of the ruling government. I trust again you’ll put your usual spin to fresh scandal brewing.
Another scandal hits jubilee House.
Ace investigative journalist Kevin Ekow Taylor of “With All Due Respect” fame has released another shocking scandal on how the Ghana government with the help of the head of customs, has been smuggling millions of dollars of illegal fuel through unidentified vessels through the Takoradi and Tema port respectively.
In his expose on withallduersspect Kevin Taylor revealed that “Every month a vessel smuggles 50,000 metric tons of fuel worth 10 million dollars into Ghana. He said “the Vessel is intercepted by our Naval command in Takoradi. Order from above will come, the fuel will be offloaded and then the Vessel will be left to go without any investigation or prosecutions.”
He added that: Persons in the Jubilee house charge 170,000 dollars for each vessel. This has gone on for at least the last 15 months. He sent a strong message to the commissioner of customs Col Kojo Damoah and dared him to release a statement to clear himself of this crime or else he will release audios and videos of the illegal transaction he is involved in.
