Akufo-Addo// What has happened to our directive principles of state policy? Some of it’s provision for this subject matter are –
- “The State shall cultivate among all Ghanaians respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms and the dignity of the human person”
- The State shall take steps to eradicate corrupt practices and the abuse of power.
- The state shall promote among the people of Ghana the culture of political tolerance.
- The State shall take all necessary action to ensure that the national economy is
managed in such a manner as to maximize the rate of economic development and to
secure the maximum welfare, freedom and happiness of every person in Ghana and to
provide adequate means of livelihood and suitable employment and public assistance to the needy.
On the above backdrop, scanning and monitoring the political spectrum carefully, I ask is Nana addo deserving to still be at the presidency? Definitely not, as he has failed woefully in all the above mentioned principles enshrined in the 1992 constitution.
Ghana today? Nothing seems working for socio-economic development of our nation, right from; the security, to governance, to the economy, to the communications sector, energy sector, transportation sector, judiciary.,..and so on and so forth, What is actually happening? Is Ghana still democratic republic under dictatorship rule or what?
Just three days ago, the leader of concerned small scale miners association, Michael Peprah was arrested, why, for posting something on social media government thought was causing fear and panic. Hence a directive was given for his arrest. Is that how low we’ve sunk under our democratic dispensation, where free speech, one of the ingredients enshrined in our constitution under the directive principles of state policy? Today, that free speech is non- functional.

For a president who was touted as human rights lawyer all of a sudden has become a dictator, supervising and promoting injustice in a democratic rule – state sponsored brutality among others. If that should be the dynamics. Then some of us wouldn’t want to be party to that democracy where citizens can’t ask relevant questions and expose act of corrupt activities government appointees are perpetuating at the mining industry. And that should be a source worry for all progressive citizens. Akufo-Addo
Is our resources used judiciously and transparently to the benefit of the citizenry?
Agyapa a private company whose owners are shrouded in secrecy are now leveraging on our mineral resources – as Special purpose vehicle to borrow in the name of government for 15 yrs?
Heightened level of hardship in the country could be traced to various sources – the collapsed banks, tagging of all small scale miners with legitimate license to operate and declaring their act as illegal , non payment of indigenous contractors, collapsing indigenous businesses.
These above mentioned are areas that make money to flow in the system. So, what do you expect as the chain is broken. Akufo-Addo

Background
An audio recording surfaced online with the voice of the suspended Central Regional Vice-Chairman of the NPP, Horace Ekow Ewusi who was arrested by the police over 500 missing excavators used for galamsey.
The Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Prof. Kwabena Frimpong Boateng issued a letter directing the Criminal Investigation Department to arrest and interrogate him after learning that Vice Chairman of the NPP, Horace Ekow Ewusi had sold some of the confiscated items from illegal miners.
Prof. Frimpong-Boateng in the recording was heard allegedly agreeing to their request and gave his party folks the green light to engage in galamsey.
“…Did you tell me that you are done forming the team? We talked about the framework…we all know that the party needs money…I told you that Chairman Wontumi has some concession so go there and inspect the place…but after the meeting, you told me that you are done with everything and your guys have started working…” he said. Ekow Ewusi on his part said Elvis Morris Donkor, the MP for Abura, Asebu, Kwamankese, had also requested an excavator form the Minister [Frimpong-Boateng] to use on some galamsey sites.
He stated: “The last time you met my MP [Elvis Donkor] in Parliament, he told you that he will also need a machine to work with and you even asked him to come and see me because I have a lot of these excavators.”
But the Minister, however, denied knowing the said MP for Abura, Asebu, Kwamankese.
He said “I don’t even know this Elvis Donkor you are talking about, who is he? I don’t know him…where did he say I met him?”
Although the MP’s name was mentioned in the said conversation by Ekow Ewusi, he denied having anything to do with the missing excavators. Akufo-Addo
