The Minister further  expressed his commendation for their continuous support and urged for an  increased collaboration between the EU and relevant ministries and agencies in Ghana.

“This partnership is vital as it not only reinforces our shared objectives but also aligns with the broader goals of stability and peace within the region. Ghana as a country takes its security issues seriously, recognizing that a stable environment is essential for national development. I  assured the delegation that we will undertake every necessary measure to preserve peace and maintain security and stability across the country. This commitment underscores our dedication to fostering an atmosphere conducive for  growth, which is particularly crucial in light of emerging global challenges that threaten regional stability,” he said.

He added “Our meeting highlighted other areas of collaboration beyond immediate security concerns, notably focusing on improving the Ghana Prisons Service. Issues such as prison decongestion and equipment enhancement were identified as key areas where EU assistance could significantly impact our justice system’s efficacy.

“By addressing these systemic challenges, we aim not only to improve conditions within our correctional facilities but also to ensure that rehabilitation efforts are prioritized.”

“The EU Security and Defence Initiative (EUSDI) represents a proactive approach towards tackling instability in the Gulf of Guinea region. By strengthening Ghana’s security capabilities through targeted support, we can effectively respond to various threats while promoting long-term resilience against insecurity challenges.

Such initiatives are paramount as they align with our national priorities and reflect a collaborative effort towards achieving sustainable peace in West Afric,’ he added.
