“Even USA, UK don’t have an electronic national ID like the Ghana Card.” – Bawumia

Dr. Bawumia said Ghana is among the few countries in the world who have an electronic Identification card.

The Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has emphasized on the significance of the Ghana Card as a major milestone in the country’s development.

The Ghana Card, a biometric, since its introduction has been instrumental in streamlining various government services and improving national security.

Dr. Bawumia said Ghana is among the few countries in the world who have an electronic Identification card. The Vice President said this when he met NPP supporters in Yendi in the Northern region as part of his campaign tour of the region.

The NPP Flagbearer is in the Northern region to solicit votes ahead of the 2024 general elections slated on December 7th. The team met chiefs, youth groups and religious leaders.

Dr. Bawumia, touted the significance of the Ghana card saying both the USA and UK have nothing like that and are now working towards introducing some.

He also explained that, Ghana is the first country in Africa to introduce the Mobile Money Interoperability (MMI)

“We are the first country in the whole of Africa to do mobile money interoperability between MoMo accounts and banks accounts and between MoMo accounts and Momo accounts, first country, in the whole of Africa.

” The UK and USA do not have anything like the Ghana Card and we are the first African Country, to have our own digitalize card and Ghana is one of the few countries in the world to have a digital ID” He said.
