Exporters forum organised for Mango Farmers and Exporters in Eastern Region

The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) has organised an exporters’ forum for mango farmers and exporters in the Eastern Region. The forum, which came off on 22nd November, 2019 in Somanya, is the fourth in the series organised by the GSA for exporters after previous ones in Accra, Takoradi and Kumasi.

The event brought together scores of farmers from the Dangbe West Mango Farmers Association,Yilo Krobo Mango Farmers Association and the Manya Krobo Mango Farmers Association.

Resource persons from the Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Department (PPRSD), Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Ghana Exim Bank, Customs Brokers Association, Ghana (CUBAG ) and Swissport educated the exporters on their various services in the export value chain.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, Ms. Benonita Bismarck said the forum was part of the GSA’s effort to provide a platform to discuss concerns on how an improved transport and logistics chain and accessible finance can create a competitive advantage for Ghanaian exporters.

According to her, the GSA will continue to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure a safe, reliable and quick shipment of cargo by all modes of transport at optimum cost for importers and exporters in Ghana.

These were said on her behalf by the Head of Shipper Services and Trade Facilitation of the GSA, Mrs. Naa Densua-Aryeetey.

The Deputy Director and Head of Quarantine Services Division of the PPRSD, Mr Prudence Atippoe advised the mango farmers to apply the right chemicals on their farms to increase yield and prevent diseases.

Speaking at the forum, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly, Mr. Kupuata Ebenezer Tetteh commended the GSA for organising the forum to protect and promote the interests of shippers in the Eastern Region and Ghana at large.
