The much anticipated pageant for Senior High Schools – the Face of High School Ghana has been held in Accra. The event was also used to crown one teenager who emerged as Face of Teens 2020.
Hosted at the citadel of Entertainment – the National Theatre of Ghana on Tuesday December 29, 2020, the highly competitive annual event saw the crowning of Miss Jocelyn of Oda Senior High School in the Eastern Region as the new Face of High school Ghana 2020. Miss Gloria from Kwegyir Aggrey Secondary Technical School was also crowned the Face of Teens Ghana 2020.
Other winners include Master Desmond of Koforidua Secondary Technical School who won the Face of High School Ghana 2020 in the male category and Master Villas of Ghana Secondary Technical School who got crowned the Face of Teens Ghana 2020 (male) for the first time from the Western Region.
The event also witnessed the presentation of sub awards such as Best Hip Pop King which was won by Makaveli of Mfantsipim School. The Dance icon of St John Grammar School, Master Ramz also known as Dance Boss beat other contestants to win the High School Dance King 2020.
The winner of Face of High School Ghana 2020 was presented with a ticket for a fully sponsored trip to Dubai by kind courtesy of Adansi Travels.
The two pageants – Face of High School and Face of Teens Ghana are held annually to empower young people in the High Schools to impact lives around them.
The pre-events for this year saw the contestants engaging in charity and volunteer projects initiated by them in their communities as part of criteria to test their leadership qualities and service.
This year’s event was under the auspices of the Ghana High School Festival (GHSF), an embodiment of Face of Teens Ghana and Face of High School. It was under the theme “Future elites today, Gold leadership classics”.
As part of moves to mentor the contestants and other teenagers, some Ghanaian celebrities were also awarded during the programme.
They include Ghana’s celebrated creative Arts icons Nathaniel Kwabena Adisi (Bola Ray) who is also the CEO of EIB Network. He was honoured as Africa Youth Ambassador for Media & Trade. Appiah Dankwah (Appietus) was also honoured as Ghana’s all-time best Music Producer and Sound Engineer, while Miss Nana Adjoa of Atinka TV received the Best Female Entertainment Morning Show Presenter and Producer. The most promising female presenter went to Miss Maud Enam Ashiabor of Our Next Guest Show. Dr Ray of Raybeat was awarded as the most Consistent Sound and Music Producer. It was also not surprising when the Executive Producer of Our Next Guest show, Mawutor Gawornu got the Most Promising Television Talk Show Producer.
In a message delivered on his behalf, Special Guest of Honour for the occasion, Bola Ray, charged young people in Ghana to always dream big and be determined. He motivated them to see the future of Ghana as their responsibility. Ghana and African media Guru also called on young people to make the Free African Continental Trade Area (AFCTA) be a great opportunity for them since Ghana is the citadel of this trade organization.
