In a blistering attack on the ruling NPP, Mustapha Gabde, the Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a stark warning: if voters fail to remove Hawa Koomson from power in the upcoming 2024 election, the NDC will ensure she is jailed if they win. Gabde accused Koomson, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, of being part of a grand scheme that looted public funds under initiatives like One-Village, One-Dam, and the One Constituency, One Million Dollars programme.

Gbande, speaking at a party gathering, accused Koomson and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of looting funds meant for key projects, including the One-Village, One-Dam initiative and the One Constituency, One Million Dollars programme. He alleges that these schemes, which were intended to boost development in rural areas, have been mismanaged and the money “squandered” by NPP officials under Koomson’s watch.

The NDC’s threat to jail Koomson has intensified the political atmosphere ahead of the 2024 general elections, with critics accusing the opposition of stoking fear and division. However, Gabde insists that his party’s stance is a necessary step towards accountability and justice for the alleged misuse of public funds.
