FBNBank tops financial institutions at Ghana Club 100 Awards
The 20th edition of the Ghana Club 100 Awards was held under the theme “Accelerating Economic Growth: Amplifying Ghana’s Global Market Footprint through AFCFTA,” aimed at fostering an effective mechanism for assessing Ghanaian companies, while instilling confidence in businesses to compete in the global market place.
FBNBank claimed the top position among financial institutions in Ghana when it was adjudged the 10th best company in the 20th edition of the Ghana Club 100 ranking. By this feat FBNBank becomes the highest-placed bank in the coveted league of Ghana’s best corporate entities for 2023.
FBNBank’s ranking as 10th best is more remarkable when viewed against the Bank’s previous 55th position in the last edition of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre’s league of companies. This means FBNBank moved 45 places up the ladder in the overall ranking of companies.
The rankings were arrived at after a rigorous screening exercise based on the company’s size, growth, and corporate social responsibility efforts. The Ghana Club 100 was introduced by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) in 1998 and it features an annual collection of 100 outstanding companies in the Ghanaian business landscape. The main objective of the Ghana Club 100 is to promote good corporate governance among Ghanaian businesses, develop a transparent and fluid communication system in the Ghanaian corporate sector and spur positive economic entities.
Speaking during the event, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Yofi Grant, noted that, “The African Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA) pact presents a golden opportunity for Ghanaian businesses to expand their reach. For us at GIPC, our work is to complement efforts by instituting various measures to bolster Ghana’s private sector’s competitiveness on the African continent.”
