Fighting Galamsey: First create jobs for the Gallamseyers – Suraj Ellias

A journalist and political activist, Suraj Ellias popularly known as Whyte Dove, has advised the government against fighting against illegal mining (Galamsey) without creating jobs for the illegal miners. He described the government’s efforts as a “waste of time” if there are no alternative jobs for the people.

“Ghana are we serious as a country? How can you fight galamsey without creating job’s for the gallamseyers? Don’t you know it is unemployment that pushed them to into galamsey?” he asked.

“He said stopping the over 300 000 Youth to sit in their homes with the families unemployed? Do you think this will be possible? You may killed many but others will still do,” he added.

“If you want to stop galamsey create jobs first. No youth want to be a galamseyer. They do it because there are no jobs.
