A Presidential Hopeful in the impending 2024 Presidential Election, Kofi Koranteng, has called on President Akufo-Addo to as a matter of urgency remove Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the leader of the governments’ economic management team. He said the Vice President led Ghana to its lowest International credit rating ever, for which reason he thinks that Members of Parliament (MPs) must enforce his removal through the appropriate and relevant parliamentary procedures.

At a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, Kofi Koranteng explained that the current economic challenges faced by the country is inflicted by the incompetent management of the Ghanaian economy by both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“I am here to call for the resignation of Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as the chairman of the economic Management Team. Barring his willing resignation, I call on every Member of Parliament to act for the good of our Nation and remove him from office,” he noted.

Mr. Koranteng asserted that the blatant and systematic pilferage of the riches, resources, and labors of Ghana and its people have been and continue to be perpetrated by the NPP and NDC. He supports former President John Mahama’s call for the resignation of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the Economic Management Team but will never endorse the replacement with an equally incompetent leaders from the NDC.

The 2024 Presidential Hopeful, questioned the impact of the IMF Program Support on the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian.

“Will this new IMF money build new schools, new hospitals, innovative centers of technology and commerce or provide you with living wage jobs, secure housing, running clean water or any of the basic necessities of 21st century life? Will it fund advances in agricultural efficiencies and output? Will it create jobs, prosperity and security for Ghanaians and offer the youth a future that they can treasure, or will it once again pad the bank accounts and enhance the luxurious lifestyles of the NDC, NPP and the industrial cronies who support them and pay them homage,” he quizzed.

He alleged that his disqualification from the 2020 election by the Electoral Commission was masterminded by the two major political parties in the country – the NDC and the NPP because they are benefited from it the most.

“My battle to have the Representation of the Peoples’ Amendment Act implemented according to the law and my removal by the EC from the 2020 ballot are an indication of the coziness of the two parties,” he said.

Kofi Koranteng opined that since he officially began his independent presidential candidacy, he has offered solutions for innovative governance which includes among others trimming the wasteful excessive number of ministries who suck up an extraordinary amount of Ghanaian wealth.

He also debunked the impact of Covid-19 on the economy leading to the intervention of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and that Covid-19 was rather a blessing to the government due to the amount of money that the government had from donors and domestic sources.
