The immediate past President of the Student Representative Council (SRC), of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Joseph Osei Mensah, is in hot waters for allegedly embezzling over GHc100,000 of the SRC’s money while he was President.

Joseph Osei, according to some of the students committed the criminal act with the connivance of some of his executives who are on the run.

Students of the institute therefore want management of the institute to get the police involved so that Joseph Osei would be prosecuted for misappropriating students’ funds.

Even though Joseph Osei’s certificate has been impounded over the offence preventing him from graduating last year, some of the students who are General Assembly members also want the culprit and his executives prosecuted so as to serve as a deterrent to other student leaders on campus.

The General Assembly is said to have demanded from management to ensure Joseph Osei and his cartel refunds the money he shamelessly stole with interest before his certificate is released to him.

The students are threatening to petition the Economic and Organize Crime Office (EOCO) to investigate the matter if reforms are not done to stop the deliberate mismanagement of their funds by the leadership of the SRC.

It is not clear if management has any plans to call in the Police, but sources say management want him to pay the money before he can receive his certificate.

However, credible information indicates that Joseph Osei is alleged to have purchased two plots of land at Samsam- Mempreasem community in the Ga West Municipality and he plans to develop it into a hostel for students who will attend the new campus of Accra Technical University.
