Frederick Acheampong, embezzled $20,000 I paid for my Black Stars call up- Ransford Osei

Former Black Stars forward, Mr Ransford Osei, has alleged that Mr Frederick Acheampong, embezzled $20,000 he paid as appreciation for receiving a call-up to the Black Stars in 2010.

At the time of this payment, Mr Acheampong was a journalist working with a radio station.

However, he is currently Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council Member.

Following injury to one of the players, Mr Osei received late call–up into the Black Stars team in South Africa to prepare for 2010 AFCON in Angola where Ghana finished as runner-up.

Mr Osei is peeved that Mr Acheampong’s failure to share the money to the rightful GFA officials denied him subsequent call-ups to the Black Stars team to the 2010 world cup accusing him of destroying his career.

In a radio interview Doc Royal Sports, Mr Osei revealed that the day that the late President John Evans Atta Mills honoured the U-20 team players with a car each after winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009, he received a call from Mr Acheampong who told him to expect a call soon from Randy as the GFA had given him an invitation to the Black Stars for the 2010 AFCON.

He explained that, after the call-up, Mr Acheampong suggested that he show appreciation in the form of paying money to the officials who ensured that he was given the nod.

According to him, upon his return from the AFCON, Mr Acheampong called him severally demanding the agreed money.

However, in a bizarre twist of events, the U-20 World Cup champion claimed that Mr Acheampong allegedly declined to pay the money due to persons at the GFA, which he alleges resulted in his position being awarded to Prince Tagoe for the 2010 World Cup.

Mr Osei expressed his disappointment in Mr Acheampong since he has had so many good moments with him and duly compensated him for all that he has done for him.

The player who is now 32 years old, disclosed that he went to Israel with Mr Acheampong to signed contract with Maccabi Haifa in 2008 because he was a minor at the time.

Similarly, Mr Osei said he also travelled to Manchester City with Mr Acheampong for trials.

According to him, Mr Acheampong gave excuse of cold weather and refused to accompany him to do his rounds at Manchester City.
Ransford Osei caught the eyes of the football world after finishing second to Macauley Chrisantus of Nigeria when he scored 7 goals in the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Ransford Osei had trials with Manchester City and was once monitored by Real Madrid.

These allegations raise concerns about transparency and ethical conduct within football administration in Ghana, particularly regarding financial transactions related to player call-ups and appreciation gestures.

The GFA may need to investigate these claims to ensure accountability and uphold the integrity of the association.
