Recall that on Sunday July 04 2021, news broke that President Akufo-Addo had given presidential pardon to Mr. Pele, a former National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentarian.

He was thrown into jail for six year term in 2018 for causing financial loss to the state.

His prosecution commenced under former President John Mahama but it was concluded in 2018 leading to imprisonment. Mr Pele was jailed together with one businessman, Assibit.

He was last month allegedly taken ill and transferred from the Nsawam Maximum Prison, to the Greater Accra Region, former Ridge Hospital for treatment.

Many, including the Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide Kweku Baako and the Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi begged for presidential pardon for him.
