Future of Ghana Confirms Organisational Changes
Arnold Sarfo-Kantanka steps down as Future of Ghana CEO, interim CEO named
Multiple award-winning charity, Future of Ghana, has announced important organisational changes within its structure. Future of Ghana (FoG), whose mission is to create platforms for young people to connect, share skills and knowledge to impact Ghana’s development, has confirmed that its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and founder, Arnold Sarfo-Kantanka, will step down from his putative role and officially becomes a Trustee.
Arnold Sarfo-Kantanka has notified the Board of Trustees of his intention to resign as CEO of Future of Ghana. He will stay within the organisation as part of the board and will provide strategic advisory guidance in his new role as trustee. He has been CEO of Future of Ghana since its inception in 2010. Current Chief Operating Officer (COO), Ben Anim-Antwi will replace him as interim CEO, until Future of Ghana officially begins the process of recruiting a successor that can lead the company on its continued growth journey. Under Arnold’s leadership, FoG evolved from the early days of him founding “Me Firi Ghana”, to become a pioneering organisation that is established in the UK and Germany, uniting, engaging and mobilising a generation of Ghanaians/Africans, influencing national and international Diaspora policy. He has contributed significantly in taking the organisation to its current strong position, focusing on the vision of uniting young people to drive positive change in Ghana, through innovation & collaboration.
Arnold said: “When writing the introduction to our 2015-2020 Impact Report, I was overwhelmed at how far we have come, when I reminisced about our beginnings. Following a feeling of loss and displacement, in 2009 I experienced an identity crisis, and this led me to design the now iconic Me Firi Ghana (MFG) jumper. This seed germinated and started a socially impacting movement, where young millennials started wearing and identifying as Ghanaians with pride, culminating into a real purposeful journey to reach the community. The evolution and transition from MFG to FoG was made possible by each and every member of the respective organisations and the community at large, who selflessly dedicated, and still do dedicate, their time to fulfil the mission, achieve the objectives and turn the vision into reality, through products purchased, events attended, research projects, investors trips, mentorship, internships, work experiences and more. As I am now stepping down as CEO, I believe that my transition in the role of Trustee, will provide me with room to provide advisory support to Ben Anim-Antwi and Future of Ghana. Our ideals, mission, values and objectives remain unchanged and in my new role, alongside FoG’s committed strategic Board and team, we will bring fresh innovative ideas and concepts to help grow the network and impact FoG will have on and for future generations.”
Board of Trustees senior member and Senior Partner and Principal of BWF Solicitor, Bennard Owusu, commented: “It has been an absolute blessing and pleasure to have Arnold as CEO. His departure from the role comes as a blow, but his outstanding indefatigable work is a testament of his integrity, resilience and commitment to the vision of Future of Ghana. In bidding you goodbye as our CEO, I say this on behalf of the Board, that you will forever be remembered for your hard work, integrity, leadership, and inspiration to the youth. We are even more grateful that you have agreed to play a significant part in charting our future path and decided to join the board, putting our trust in your wisdom and farsightedness. We owe you a debt of gratitude.”
Future of Ghana will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the mobilisation of knowledge, skills and resources play a pivotal role in the economic empowerment and job creation of young people in Ghana
