A coalition of GaDangme pressure groups has raised concerns over what they describe as a targeted attempt to undermine successful indigenous entrepreneurs following the Ghana Revenue Authority’s (GRA) decision to investigate the personal income tax status of Richard Nii Armah Quaye, the founder of Bills Micro-Credit.

In a press release signed by Nii Ayitey Armah, the coalition questioned the timing and motive behind the probe, stating that it appears to be an orchestrated effort to sabotage GaDangme businessmen. According to the group, Richard Nii Armah Quaye has consistently operated with transparency and adhered to all tax regulations. They find it suspicious that concerns about his tax status only surfaced after his well-publicized 40th birthday celebration.

While the coalition acknowledges the GRA’s role in ensuring tax compliance, they expressed worry over what they perceive as selective scrutiny. “We categorically reject any form of targeted harassment under the guise of regulation,” the statement read, adding that the GRA must uphold fairness, impartiality, and due process in its investigations.

The coalition further warned that any deviation from these principles would expose systemic biases that hinder the growth of indigenous businesses. They reaffirmed Richard Nii Armah Quaye’s commitment to compliance and cooperation with authorities but emphasized their readiness to challenge any unfair treatment through legal means.
