“The truth of the matter is, yesterday around 4:30, some elders in Kwabenakrom came to me and informed me about the tragic incident that two gentlemen had gone to work in galamsey, and this had happened to them. I went there with them, and when we arrived, it was true that they were all dead,” he stated.

This latest tragedy underscores the persistent risks associated with illegal mining, not only to those directly involved but also to surrounding communities. As families of the deceased cooperate with the police in their investigations, the incident raises fresh calls for stricter enforcement of mining regulations and safer livelihood alternatives for young people in mining communities.
