George Agyiri is the Worst MCE ever – Grassroot Members of NPP in Wassa Amenfi West cry
The Grassroot members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Wasa Amenfi West Constituency has fumed that the Municipal Chief Executive for the Wassa Amenfi West Municipality, George Agyiri, is one of the worst ever Municipal Chief Executives (MCE) to have ever been appointed in the history of the municipality.
A press statement from the party grassroots copied to Ghananewsonline.com.gh, alleged that George Agyiri is pursuing his personal interest instead of that of the government.
The group said, the MCE is greedy and selfish, has neglected the party and has refused to contribute towards the welfare of the grassroot members.
According to them, currently the Wassa Amenfi West Municipal Assembly is running without a presiding Member due to the selfish interest agenda against the assembly members and the party executives.
The group reiterated that, for decades now the NPP has always won the majority votes from the MCE’s hometown Wassa- Mmosaesso, however, due to his abysmal performance, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was able to win both Presidential and parliamentary seats in the 2020 general elections.
They accused the MCE of involving in illegal mining activities (galamsay), which is currently ongoing within the shores of the constituency despite the President warning against such activities.
They added, that the MCE has exhumed tombs of Wassa-Dunkwa traditional area cemetery for galamsey activities, an act that escalated impending a long awaited dispute between he George Agyiri and the Nananom of the community.
The group has therefore appealed to President Akufo-Addo and the appointments committee of the party to consult the grassroots before making any new appointment to the position of MCE for Wassa Amenfi West.
The grassroot called on the President not to reappoint George Agyiri as MCE because his turner of office has not yielded any developmental impact to the people of Amenfi West Constituency, rather, it only sabotaged the NPP government’s achievements.
They revealed, that the grassroot would accept anybody who will be appointed as MCE except George Agyiri.
