Officials of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) last Sunday attended a joint Church Service at the Accra Ridge Church to commemorate its Golden Jubilee anniversary celebrations.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of GEPA, Dr. Afua Asabea Asare, the Church Service was meant to give thanks and show appreciation to God for His guidance and blessings for having a successful year-long activity marking their 50th-anniversary celebrations.

Rt. Rev. Sampson Gyabeng of the Accra Ridge Church prayed for the Staff of GEPA and asked for God’s blessings and guidance for the new year as the Authority readies for the next task ahead.

Speaking with the Goldstreet Business afterward, Dr. Asabea Asare noted that the Authority is poised to continue with all the initiatives it began last year, most especially with regards to the implementation of the National Export Development Strategy (NEDS), which is expected to be sent to cabinet soon by the Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen.

She was optimistic that its approval and subsequent implementation this year will provide support for export-oriented indigenous industries and enhance their competitiveness with regards to the diversification of Ghana’s export base, product transformation and value addition in production.

“It’s a national strategy. So, all the stakeholders are going to have their parts in that document that they are going to play. Its all come with an implementation strategy and that is what has not happened previously.

“In previous strategies, you wouldn’t see the implementation plan so it was difficult for stakeholders to know their way around, but this one is coming with everything” she added.
