Ghana Airport Company effects Changes after Dismissal of MD

Management of the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GCAL), has announced changes in some key portfolios following the dismissal of its Managing Director, John Dekyem Attafuah las week.

Attafuah was relieved of his position as MD after he was served a dismissal letter dated January 16, 2019, and signed by the Aviation Minister, Joseph Kofi Adda, and addressed to the Board Chairman.

The GACL in a statement signed by the Board Chair, Madam Oboshie Sai Coffie, confirmed the sacking of Attafuah effective 18th January, 2018 while the deputy, Yaw Kwakwa takes charge as Acting Managing Director until a substantive appointment is made.

The statement indicated that the current Board Chairperson remains at post while Group Executive (Human Capital & Office Services) and Secretary to GACL Board, Robert Sackey Tagoe has been moved to the Ministry of Aviation.

It said…. “Also, Mr. Robert Sackey Tagoe, the Group Executive (Human Capital & Office Services) cum Secretary to GACL Board, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Aviation effective 18th January 2019. Ms. Amma Osafo-Mensah would act as the Group Executive (Human Capital & Office Services).”

Management wishes to advise the general public that the Managing Director of Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Mr. John Dekyem Attafuah, has been relieved of his duties effective today, 18th January 2019. The Deputy Managing Director, Mr. Yaw Kwakwa, has been put in place to act as the Managing Director to oversee the day to day management of the company.

Also, Mr. Robert Sackey Tagoe, the Group Executive (Human Capital & Office Services) cum Secretary to GACL Board, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Aviation effective 18th January 2019. Ms. Amma Osafo-Mensah would act as the Group Executive (Human Capital & Office Services).

The current board, chaired by Madam Oboshie Sai Cofie, is still in place.

We therefore wish to assure our stakeholders, especially our lenders, that GACL remains committed to realizing its vision of positioning Ghana as the preferred aviation hub and leader in the airport business in West Africa.
