In what has sneaked in on Ghanaians as the country’s second wave, the latest brings the country’s death toll to 346, after months of a slowdown in the number of deaths.

Health workers are calling for the government to tighten the social distancing protocols to stem the rising caseloads. They complain that the hospitals are filling up with new cases.

It is believed that Ghana’s second wave may have been triggered by the wild public gathering during the political campaigns run-up to the December 7, 2020, general elections, as well as the celebrations during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
