Ghana is a blessed country indeed once a person lands on the ground. One realizes we have an all year-round weather with fertile land, adequate rainfall, natural rivers and lakes, ready willing and trainable young employable men and women, a coastal line with coconuts and soil so rich with gold, diamonds, bauxite, manganese. Lithium and oil and other metals not too deep to explore! Located as close to the Equator and the Longitude “0”, the Centre of the earth, Ghana is not known to have any major natural disasters beyond the last earthquake tremors around 1930, some 90 years ago.

The only thing left for Ghana to develop at par with her counterparts like Korea and Singapore, that emerged from British colonial rule around the same time, seems to be the dedicated and sincere men and women with discipline enough to manage under the rule of laws!

Members of the Ghana Leadership Union (GLU) hereby submit this to the leadership of Ghana for immediate consideration:

1. GOG should immediately cease spending on fuel coupons given to any civil servants, political appointees, ministers, pastors, family members of the Presidency and the vice-Presidency.

2. No more vehicles should be bought for any government employees below the President and Vice President. GOG should have vehicles for the Ministries and MMDCEs and should be medium size vehicles and Vans or Pickup trucks as needed, available for official use and NOT bought for individual personal use. No!

3. No more free petrol for any government employee save the President and Vice for official duties.

4. No more travel per diems and no more officials of Government flying outside for medical care on the taxpayers funds. No!

5. No more sitting allowances for meetings while employed by government on a salary.

6. No more conferences outside the Jubilee House conference rooms.

7. No more charter flights or Private planes for any President of Ghana.

8. All foreign travels by govt employees and political appointees must be on economy or economy plus tickets.

9. GOG should decentralize powers and let local regions, Districts and town learn to take control over their own budgets and planning of their Financial revenue generation as well as expenses on schools, local roads, water and sewage systems.

Ghana should limit our Regions to 10, ministers to 20, and districts to a maximum of 80.

Models of managing these are available for learning from the USA and some European countries.

10. All government-owned Good housing should be ended save those of the President and Vice, Chief Justice and Soeaker of the House, and rather all government houses sold to occupants on Mortgage-purchase basis. We should rather increase the salaries of workers to be able to afford these houses.
