Ghana is broke but we have millions to build National Cathedral – Kwame A Plus
“There is no money to pay 97p per student per day, so school feeding caterers are on strike. National service personnel have not been paid for 5 months, NABCo trainees have not been paid, yet we have millions to build a mansion for our sky daddy.”
Political activist Kwame A Plus has questioned the logic behind building a National Cathedral with millions of dollars whilst pressing national issues are left unattended.
Referring to God as ‘sky daddy’, Kwame A Plus made a post on Facebook listing pressing concerns of the Ghanaian that should (in his opinion) be prioritized over building a place of worship for one section of a religious sect.
He wrote, “There is no money to pay 97p per student per day, so school feeding caterers are on strike. National service personnel have not been paid for 5 months, NABCo trainees have not been paid, yet we have millions to build a mansion for our sky daddy.”
According to the Secretary to the Board of Trustees in charge of the National Cathedral, Victor Kusi Boateng, the projected is estimated to cost about $200 million. The government has also released GHC25million seed money towards the ongoing project.
