Ghana our beloved country is blessed beyond measure when it comes to natural resources such as gold, bauxite, diamond, manganese, cocoa, coffee, timber, oil and many others, which many developed countries do not have and yet they are rich and well developed to the extent that almost every Ghanaian is itching and yearning to have the opportunity to permanently live in these elite countries for greener pastures all because we have failed as Ghanaians to do the right things to help develop our nation to a level that we will be able to depend on our own apron.
Ghana’s ambassador to the United States of America, Dr. Barfour Adjei–Barwuah was emphatic that Ghana our beloved nation has no reason to be poor when the Fante Association in the USA invited him to be part of their program to raise money in support of the Cape Coast Hospital in the Central Region. He first of all took the initiative to appreciate the invitation extended to him by the Fante Association to come and share with them their great vision and also commend them for been able to bring other Ghanaian ethnic groups living in the various parts of the country to be part of the program.
In his speech, he raised a serious concern about the behaviour of some Ghanaians living in the States as they pretend not to have seen their fellow Ghanaians when they meet them at other places apart from funeral grounds and parties where they recognize they belong to one country. At the function, he made it clear to the people gathered there that once they are away from their motherland, it is very necessary that they stay and do everything together in making sure they become their brother’s keeper, and by so doing it will go a long way to help them. He added that it is the only way Ghana can be protected.
He advised them to work together as one people with a common destiny and not as different ethnic groups that will always organize such a laudable program to raise money for projects in regions they come from, but accept the fact that the place they are living currently where they have been able to secure their citizenships is where it is now because its citizens living outside that country made sure they contributed to the growth and development of the state.
He drew their attention to the fact that some Ghanaians based in the USA might have had a fair share of the American cake and for that matter are contented with it and have not thought it prudent to come back home and help build Ghana. He advised them not to ever stop looking back at their homeland just because they are living comfortably in their various apartments without thinking that one day their owners will ask them when they will go back to where they came from. He urged them to try the best they can to come and invest in Ghana which is seen as the face of Africa and a diamond to behold looking at the numerous natural resources God has blessed us with to be able to develop to the extent that other African nations will see us as a model of emulation.
Ambassador Dr. Bafour Adjei-Barwuah believes in the good vision of his boss, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, the president of the Republic of Ghana who wants to put Ghana in its rightful place in his quest to develop Ghana Beyond Aid with good polices like the one district, one factory project that will help solve part of the unemployment challenges the country faces in recent times.
He told them that without their support Ghana, their beloved nation, cannot move away from poverty that will lead us to go and beg for financial assistance from other elite countries who did not conjure any magic to be where they are now but because their countrymen and women living outside their country took it upon themselves in all that they did their country comes first.
Ambassador Barfuor Adjei-Barwuah believes whatever support they offer Mother Ghana will go a long way to help their family members back home since a lot of jobs will be available for them to do to earn a living to let them have their peace of mind and also save them from family pressures. His speech received a thunderous applause from the large audience, and everyone believed that if all foreign diplomats of the country could emulate his worthy example Ghana will be a place to be and also grow from grass to grace. God bless our homeland, Ghana and make our nation great and strong.
