Ghana have fallen further in the latest FIFA Men’s Ranking following the Black Stars’ recent friendly games against Nigeria and Uganda in Morocco.

Ghana are now 68th in the world when it comes to men’s football, marking the country’s steep dive in the rankings since June 2023.

In the last ranking, Ghana were 67, a position that resulted from the team’s poor output at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cote d’Ivoire earlier this year.

In their recent friendly games, Ghana lost by 2-1 to Nigeria and drew 1-1 against Uganda under the management of reappointed Head Coach Otto Addo.

After his winless two games, Otto Addo disclosed he is on a quest to rebuild the team from scratch.

He is now focused on training the team to create chances and capitalize on them as he observed the team is “not good enough”.

“But in all, the football we played was not good enough. We should have played with more chances. We have to work on creating more chances and finishing must be better under pressure and it’s a lot of work,” he told the press after their draw against Uganda.

Ghana are not the only African country to have dropped points in the latest ranking released on April 3, 2024, as Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt, South Africa, Burkina Faso and others have all dropped points.

Morocco, despite being among the only two African countries (Senegal) in the top 20 ranked, dropped to the 13th position.

Nigeria dropped two places to 30th, Egypt to 37th, Burkina Faso to 62nd position and South Africa to 59th position.

Meanwhile, AFCON winners Cote d’Ivoire advanced to 38th position while Senegal maintained their 17th position with Mali climbing 3 places to 44th.
