There was controversy regarding the venue of the first leg as a result of the closeness of its date.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium, which has hosted most of the Black Stars’ games in the last decades, was stripped of its approval by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) due to its pitch.

The nation’s football-governing body was, therefore, requested to seek an alternative venue for the clash.

But the Ministry of Youth and Sports intervened, putting quick finishes to the Accra Sports Stadium, which was approved a few days ago for the game.
