The Executive Director of Africa Education Watch (EDUWATCH), Mr Kofi Asare in a post on Facebook ironically said, “GoG now recruiting Ghanaian nurses for Barbados when many health facilities in Ghana lack adequate personnel. Congrats!”

Ghana has entered a bilateral agreement with Barbados to send nurses to supplement their inadequate workers. The deal was reached after a plea by Prime Minister Mia Amor Motley during a visit in 2019 by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In a Facebook post in 2022 when Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia attended the AfriCaribbean Trade and Investment Forum in

Barbados, he affirmed the country’s commitment to continue honouring the deal.

“The government of Ghana will continue to support Barbados with the supply of nurses as per the agreement.”
