President and bankroller for New Edubiase United, Abdul Salam Yakubu says the Ghana Football Association should consider organizing an integrity seminar for club owners and administrators in the country as part of efforts to develop the game and bring sanity into the system.

According to him, the Club CEO’s are the biggest problem because they turn to lobby the referees and match officials in fixing matches.

“The club chairman is also part of the bigger part of the process to ensure football get better. So we also need the integrity seminar as well”, he told Happy FM

“That is why I never agreed with the Anas principle because Club Chairman should have also been captured in the video. Mostly it is the club chairmen that lobby the referees for the bribes. We are the biggest problem. The referee should be more professionals this time around. They must allow integrity to work.

“If you want to play a fix match it’s more than GH 10,000 so there is no need to take GH 25,000 as sponsorship money and then play a fix match”, he concluded.

Abdul Salam applauded the Ghana Football Association for helping the Division One Clubs with an amount GH 25,000 as sponsorship money for the league.

“This is the first time we have been given an amount of GH 25,000 to play the league. We will appreciate but still we demand for more.

“This budget will only cater for something small. I don’t know the criteria used in sharing the money and also the source of the funding, but still it’s good we have something to start with”.

The Ghana Football Association organized an integrity seminar for referees last week as part of efforts to ensure free and fair officiating in the upcoming season.
