Ghanaian Pastors are poor – Bishop Salifu Amoako

The Founder and Leader of the Alive Chapel International, Bishop Salifu Amoako has described Ghanaian Pastors as a group of poor professionals.

According to him, the public perception that some Ghanaian Pastors have amassed wealth by fleecing their congregation is not true.

Many people have cited the likes of Rev Obofour as one of the modern-day Ghanaian pastors who have made a fortune and their lives changed overnight while members of their church continue to wallow in poverty.

He bought a plush $3million Trasacco mansion in 2019 and flaunted his fleet of luxurious cars in a social media post, which drew a lot of criticisms from a cross-section of the public who chastised him of his extravagant living.

But speaking to Akwasi Nsiah on Ghana Kasa on Kasapa FM on a wide range of issues including why Pastors are making money at the expense of their congregation, Bishop Salifu Amoako insisted that Ghanaian Pastors are relatively poor compared to their colleagues in Nigeria.

“Ghanaian Pastors cannot be said to be rich when compared to their colleagues in African countries like Nigeria. The fact that a Ghanaian Pastor has bought a Bentley doesn’t mean he’s rich. What about the pastors in Nigeria buying private jets, when somebody buys a private jet and you buy a Bentley it’s like you’ve bought a small car to be used as a taxi. Bishop Oyedepo alone has four private jets and has a Helicopter that flies him from his home to the church premises because of traffic. Many Nigerian Pastors who came to meet some of us Ghanaian Pastors in Ministry work have their own private jet. Which Ghanaian pastor can boast of one.? Salifu Amoako asked.
