Prof. Beyuo polled 13,551 of the votes.

The contest was fiercely fought, with both candidates campaigning vigorously in the weeks leading up to the polls.

Beyuo’s victory not only secures the Lambussie seat for the NDC but also underscores his personal appeal as a respected academic and public health advocate.

The election also saw Mohammed Imuran of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) contesting for the seat. However, Imuran’s campaign failed to make a substantial impact.

Bright Bakye Yelviel Baligi, the NPP candidate and incumbent MP, was seeking re-election after serving the constituency for a term. His campaign centered on highlighting the achievements of the NPP government in the region, including infrastructure projects and social intervention programs. However, despite his efforts, Baligi struggled to overcome the wave of support for the NDC and the personal appeal of Prof. Beyuo.

Baligi’s loss is seen by many as a reflection of growing discontent among constituents with the NPP’s approach to governance in the Upper West Region.
