GIS: Tension mounts as Tribalism, Nepotism and Favoritism take over
The agitating general staff of the G.I.S. maintained that the Minister for Interior, Ambrose Dery is reported to have stated during his vetting that no Head of any Security Service under his Ministry would be granted an extension upon retirement. They therefore cannot fathom why this letter should come to their boss
Information stumbled upon by our roving scout, has it that tension is gradually mounting at the Ghana Immigration Service (G.I.S.) as a result of the incursion of tribalism, nepotism and favouritism into that August institution.
According to our information, this tension came about, following a letter of Contract Extension from the Jubilee House and duly signed by the Executive Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, extending the service of the Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service, Kwame Asuah Takyi.
The letter which we would publish unedited is headlined “Two Year Extension of Service As Comptroller-General of the Immigration Service”.
Controversy
The agitating general staff of the G.I.S. maintained that the Minister for Interior, Ambrose Dery is reported to have stated during his vetting that no Head of any Security Service under his Ministry would be granted an extension upon retirement.
They therefore cannot fathom why this letter should come to their boss.
They opined that the letter might have been written at the blind side of both the President, Nana Akufo-Addo and the Minister, but if their opinion were true, how come that the letter should be signed by no less a person than the Executive Secretary to the President of the Republic.
The agitated staff are therefore calling on the President and the Interior Minister to as a matter of urgency revoke this contract extension before matters get out of hand at the Institution.
Also, they alleged that, during the last recruitment exercise, a chunk of slots was given to a particular tribe, hence, this extension letter from the Jubilee House.
The staff further alleged that, upon reception of the extension letter the Comptroller-General, started boasting that no amount of pressure from the Service can force him out.
They also opined that their boss might have schemed profoundly for the contract extension, hence, his boasting.
The aggrieved staff further alleged that their boss is afraid of the rot he has created at the place, hence, his quest for an extension of Service. This is because it is when the frog dies that its actual length would be known.
“The Comptroller-General believes the Flagstaff House and the Ministry of Interior are in his pocket. He boasts loudly that officers and men can go out and say whatever they want, he does not care”, the aggrieved yelled.
