The Management of Goil Plc has initiated an investigation following allegations of tampering with their fuel pumps at the Atimpoku in the Eastern Region.
The service station was “exposed” by journalist, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, in an experiment in a video that has since gone viral.
“This means that if you buy GHC1,000 fuel, you get less than GHc500,” he observed with a calibration that was on display in the video.
Reacting to the news, the Corporate Affairs Directorate of the company condemned the act, noting that it is against such practices.
“The company frowns on such practices. We therefore take such allegations seriously and have launched a thorough investigation into the matter.”
The company promised to make the findings of the investigation public once completed.
That notwithstanding, it indicated that the calibration of all dispensing pumps at their service stations is verified by their Quality Control and Assurance team.
“…We can confirm that the pumps are delivering accurately.”
It added, “We assure customers and the public that the company is committed to delivering quality products in their right quantities at our over 400 stations.”
