Gov’t supports, commits to APRM – Bawumia

Dr Bawumia commended the APRM for their work in promoting good governance and political stability for African countries that volunteer to monitor their governance performance

On Wednesday, 16 March 2022, the leadership of the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) led by its CEO, Prof. Eddy Maloka paid a courtesy call on Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia at the Jubilee House.

The two gentlemen deliberated, among others, on Ghana’s valuable role as Chair of the African Union Specialised Finance Committee, the need for an African Credit Rating Agency and APRM’s imminent issuance of the African Principles and Guidelines of Corporate Governance, particularly for the Small Medium Enterprises and informal sector.

Dr Bawumia commended the APRM for their work in promoting good governance and political stability for African countries that volunteer to monitor their governance performance.

He pledged government’s continued commitment and support for the African Peer Review Mechanism.

APRM is a voluntary arrangement amongst African states to systematically assess and review governance at Head of State peer level in order to promote political stability, accelerated sub-regional and continental economic integration, economic growth and sustainable development.
