Greater Accra: Armed robbers shoot MoMo vendor, make away with 120k at Amanfro

Police source says the suspects who were on a motorbike attacked the victim immediately he locked his shop around 10:00pm on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.

A 34-year-old mobile money vendor, Famous Fiagbe, is battling for his life at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital after two armed robbers shot at him and made away with the sum of GHC120,000.00.

The robbers also bolted with mobile phones belonging to the victim. The incident occurred at American Down, a suburb of Amanfro in the Ga South municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

Mother of the victim, Favour Dikah, in an interview with Onua News’ Nana Yaw Asare indicated that the robbers fired several bullets at his son before having access to the bag which was containing the money.

She explained that although she screamed for help, there was no one around at the moment to come to his rescue but his brother who couldn’t do much because of the gun the robbers had.

“He was running whilst the guy was shooting repeatedly at his leg. So, I screaming for help, saying, ‘Top Town people, please save me, my son is dying. They’re shooting my son’ and his brother heard me and came out. So the guy was shooting at my son and me so I could not scream for people to come around.

“At the time my son had still held unto the bag and got up at once and threw it inside a house. He wanted to jump the wall for the bag but the wall was wired with a mesh. So, he pushed the gate and it opened for him to go for the bag and joined his colleague on the bike and sped off,” she explained.
