The Office of the Special Prosecutor has released its Half-Year Report for 2024, highlighting significant strides in combating corruption. Signed by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, the report outlines the successful conclusion of three notable cases.

One key investigation focused on suspected corruption and related offences in the recruitment exercise of Course 51 of Cadet Officers Training at the Ghana Police Academy. Additionally, the office finalized its probe into alleged bribery by Airbus SE, a European multinational aerospace corporation, regarding the sale and purchase of military aircraft for Ghana.

“The Office was engaged with INTERPOL and the central authorities of the United Kingdom and the United States under the mutual legal assistance regime. The Special Prosecutor will issue directives and further action on the matter in due course,” noted the report, as stated on GhanaWeb news portal.

The report also detailed the completion of investigations into suspected corruption concerning the procurement and award of a contract to Turfsport Ghana Limited by the Gaming Commission of Ghana.

“The Office has concluded investigation into suspected corruption and corruption-related offences in respect of the procurement and the award of a contract to Turfsport Ghana Limited by the Gaming Commission of Ghana,” the report added.

The Special Prosecutor will provide directives and further actions regarding these three cases in due course.

The 2024 Half-Year Report from the Office of the Special Prosecutor underscores significant progress in combating corruption within key institutions.
