Never in the history of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has there been so much resources and such massive logistical support put at the disposal of the National Nasara Coordinator than the present one.
In fact all stakeholder institutions, entities and high profile personalities did not only commit themselves to the fight to win the Zongos but kept their doors widely opened by providing everything needed to change the narrative and help deliver the Zangos to the NPP in the 2020 Elections. All the under listed persons seriously and generously committed themselves to the success of the “Zango Agenda”…
The President, Nana Akufo-Addo, The Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, The Second Lady, Hajia Samira Bawumia, The Chief of Staff, Hon. Frema Opare, The General Secretary, John Boadu, The National Organizer, Sammi Awuku, The Minister for Inner City and Zongo Development (MZID), Hon. Dr. Mustapha Hamid, The Chief Executive Officer of the Zongo Development Fund (ZDF), Arafat Sulemana Abdulai, all had their hands on deck and even made personal appearances in the midst of the Covid outbreak whenever necessary to deliver the Zangos for the NPP.
Alas! The results of the 2020 Polls in terms of the performance of party in the Zongos across the country is a far cry from the unprecedented resources made available to the leadership. The results are so abysmal, humiliating, disgraceful and embarrassing to the NPP. Some observers find the whole spectacle an affront to the divinity of all those well meaning people who supported the creation of such special purpose vehicles as the ZDF and MZID to accelerate development and ultimately help endear the party to Zongo folks.
In subsequent posts, I will invite you, dear readers, to analyze the actual results obtained by the NPP in opposition in 2016 with limited resources and compare same to the 2020 results with the NPP in power with much improved resource base and greater support and motivation for the Nasara Wing including numerous training workshops, supply of motorbikes and Hajj Pilgrimage for Constituency Nasara Coordinators as well as allocation of a V8 to the Office of the National Coordinator… something which did not happen previously. Yet, the results is nothing but a massive failure of the Nasara Coordinator’s own promise to deliver the Zongos.
As I have indicated earlier, I will provide a comprehensive analysis of results for your perusal later but take a look at the following. The NPP failed to win a single Zongo dominated constituency seat and even failed to hold on to the ones the party managed to win in opposition. Perhaps, the party’s loss of it’s outright majority in Parliament could have been averted if the Nasara Wing had helped to delivered just one seat to party in acknowledgement of the huge and unprecedented resources that was put at the disposal of the leadership of the Nasara in 2020.
Sadly, the NPP lost Madina, Ablekuma Central and Akwatia and these are Zongo dominated constituencies. Against all projections and the massive resources injection, the party failed miserably to capture or flip some targeted seats like, Asawase, Ashaiman, Ayawaso North and Ayawaso East.
Interestingly the current National Nasara Coordinator do pride himself about the fact that his umbilical cord is strongly attached to the Akwatia and Ayawaso East Constituencies through strong family ties, yet he failed woefully to deliver none.
Indeed, leadership is cause and everything else is effect.
