Health Minister inaugurates Four Governing Bodies
The agencies are the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Allied Health Professions Council, Centre for Plant Medicine Research, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons.
The Health Minister Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu, on Tuesday December 7, 2021, inaugurated the governing bodies of four agencies under his Ministry.
The agencies are the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Allied Health Professions Council, Centre for Plant Medicine Research, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) is chaired by Madam Isabella Naana Akyaa Asante. Members of the Council are Hon Tina Gifty Naa Ayeley Mensah, Mr Felix Nyante, Mrs Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo, Mrs Netta Forson Ackon, Dr. Otchere Addai-Mensah, Mad. Monica Afra Nkrumah, Mrs Lesline Nyankson, Mr Kennedy B Japiong, Dr. Francis Boateng Agyenim, and Mr. Anthony Yaw Oppong.
The Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) Board is chaired by Prof. Augustine W. Kwame Kyere, with Dr. Samuel Yaw Opoku, Mr. Prince Rockson, Dr. Prince Sadoke Amuzu, Dr Samuel Kyei, Mr. Justice Ofori-Amoah, Dr. (Mrs) Matilda Asante, Dr. Ernest Konadu Asiedu, Mrs. Anna Pearl Akiwumi Siriboe, Mr Richard Asamoa-Mensah, and Mad. Cynthia Adu as members.
The Centre for Plant and Medicine Research (CPMR) Board is chaired by Mr. Thomas Boateng Appiagyei, with Dr. Kofi Bobi Barimah, Dr. Anastasia Yirenkyi, Prof. Sebastian Eliason, Prof. Isaac Julius Asiedu-Gyekye, Mr. Seth Kweku Saeneke, Prof. Paul Pinnock Bosu, Dr. Maureen Martey, and Mr. Prince Philip Larbi as members.
The Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons Board (GCPS) is chaired by Prof. Yaw Adu-Gyamfi with Prof. Richard M.K. Adanu, Dr. John Nkrumah Mills, Prof. Samuel Akobour Debrah, Dr. Audrey Gyanuah Forson, Dr, Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, Prof. Daniel Ansong, Dr. Ishmael Kyei, Dr. Oheneba Owusu-Danso, Prof. Paul Kwame Nyame, Mrs. Fredrica S. Iliasu, Dr. Seth Makafui Caleb-Joshua Dayie, and Nana Kojo Danso-Mensah as members.
Hon. Minister Kwaku Agyeman-Manu congratulated members of the board and thanked them for accepting the call to serve the country in this capacity.
He stated that the boards must ensure that strong governance and management practices are strictly followed to ensure a healthy populace for national development.
The Health Minister also added that all agencies are mandated to look at what challenges they will use to support their management to achieve what is expected of them.
