The newly elected Regional Chairman of the Volta Region on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Henry Kodzo Ametefe, has lamented too much economic hardships under the Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
Addressing NDC supporters shortly after the Regional delegates election which elected him as the new Chair, Ametefe told his people, “let’s not forget that this contest was merely the preface to the enormity of work we’re faced with, I therefore implore us all to bury our electoral differences and embrace the challenge together for our collective victory in 2020”.
He underscored the fact that “these are turbulent times in the history of Ghana, for majority of Ghanaians, these are hard times indeed. It is for this reason we can neither afford to drop the ball nor take our eyes off the prize now”.
He used his Goodwill message to salute delegates and mentioned that “I am both humbled and honoured that you have placed your confidence and support in me by electing me as your Regional Chairman. I will be the chairman for all members of the Volta Regional NDC and defend your rights and facilitate your privileges,” he stated
In his concession speech, Frank Afriyie who lost narrowly to Mr. Ametefe acknowledged that, the NDC has successfully navigated the most complex curve in its history in the Volta Region by the election of key officers to steer its affairs in the region, an action necessitated by the creation of the Oti Region.
He said, “indeed, the journey has not been easy but the delegates have spoken clearly and their decision is respected. Every one of you helped define and make stronger our democracy”.
The statement signed by him indicates…. “in fact, the youth were meaningfully engaged in the entire electoral process and that the political consciousness of Volta NDC youths was at an all-time high. As indicated during my concession speech, I am still resolute, more strengthened by the election debacle and well-positioned to offer my innovative ideas towards the 2020 victory agenda of our party”.
